Calculating deformation and strain
Deformation and strain can easily be calculated using deformation matrices set up in a spreadsheet. The Excel file here enables you to calculate the eigenvectors, eigenvalues, principal strain axes, strain ratio, kinematic velocity, offset across a shear zone etc for simple plane strain deformations. Change the numbers in red (and only these numbers).
