The Seasons and the Woodman was first published in 1941 as one in a series of Cambridge children's books related to the natural world. D. H. Chapman provides an atmospheric narrative of the interaction between humanity and woodland. This is combined with a large number of illustrations from the renowned naturalistic artist C. F. Tunnicliffe. The book is both absorbing and educationally valuable, the aim being to develop the enthusiasm of the young reader and encourage further exploration of the subject. This is a delightful account that will enthral readers today, just as it did at the time of original publication.
