Maud Doria Haviland (1889–1941) was a British naturalist who was particularly influential in the field of ornithology. In this book, which was first published in 1926, Haviland provides an account of the interaction between animals and four types of plant environment: rainforest, steppe, tundra and taiga. The text was based upon a course of lectures given at Cambridge during 1924. Illustrative figures are included, along with bibliographies for each section. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in ecology and zoology.
