AUTHORS AND BIODATA
Herbert Puchta holds a Ph.D. in ELT Pedagogy. For several years, he was Professor of English at the Teacher Training University in Graz, Austria. He has been a plenary speaker at numerous international conferences and has conducted workshops and given seminars in more than 50 countries. He was also President of IATEFL (the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language).
For almost three decades, Herbert has done research into the practical application of findings from cognitive psychology and brain research to the teaching of English as a foreign language. Herbert has co-authored numerous course books as well as articles and resource books. His latest course books are Get Thinking and Think for Scuola Secondaria di Secondo Grado, Super Minds for primary students, and More! 2nd Edition for Scuola Secondaria di Primo Grado.
Duncan Christelow is ‘Digital Champion’ at Cambridge University Press. He’s worked in publishing throughout his career, always focusing on the electronic delivery of learning materials. Duncan was close to the heart of the first 'internet revolution' of the late 1990s when he was a member of the launch team for Encyclopaedia Britannica's Britannica.com, and after a period as Commercial Director at the online legal publisher Justis.com, Duncan moved to Cambridge in 2008. His role at the University Press is to promote and develop the successful implementation of new technology in Cambridge English language learning programmes, especially in Europe, Russia and the Gulf.
Sarah Ellis is Examination Manager for Cambridge English Language Assessment, Italy. She has an extensive background in teaching and teacher training in both Italy and the UK and has taught English to students of all ages and levels. She has trained teachers on CELTA and DELTA courses and has also worked with teachers in the Italian State School system and on SSIS courses. Sarah has been involved with Cambridge English Language Assessment for over 15 years as speaking examiner, presenter and as Centre Examinations Manager. She is responsible for the Cambridge English Language Assessment teacher support programme for Italy which provides information, materials and support for teachers at seminars, conferences and events throughout Italy.
Deborah J. Ellis has worked as an ESL and EFL teacher for over 30 years, and is currently working in a liceo in Vicenza. She has an extensive background in teacher development and has been a regular speaker at British Council and TESOL conferences in Italy since 1998. She is a textbook writer and has authored literature courses for Loescher Editore, as well as CLIL and literature materials for Cambridge University Press. She is the author of Loescher’s major new literature course Literature for Life and is currently working on new materials for the Scuola Secondaria di Primo Grado and the Scuola Secondaria di Secondo Grado primo biennio.
