Present Yourself

Present Yourself Second Edition, with complementary videos, is a presentation skills course for adult and young adult learners of English.

A process approach to giving presentations combined with careful language control with communicative activities that are familiar to students offers an opportunity to develop the life skill of talking about topics to an audience outside the language classroom. A process approach to developing presentation skills allows students to build skills in a communicative setting. Focusing on organization teaches students how to systematically develop a presentation from the brainstorming stage to the final presentation stage. Present Yourself can be used as a main text in a presentation skills course, in the context of a general conversation course, or as a component in speaking or integrated-skills classes. Level 1 focuses on giving presentations about everyday experiences. Level 2 focuses on giving presentations that express an opinion or point of view. Each Student's Book comes with access to the Digital Pack that includes an eBook and downloadable audio and video.

Key features

  • Listening activities model authentic language, prompting students to notice expressions and sentence patterns when presenting.
  • A focus on communicative skills encourages students to apply their conversational skills to the broader, life skill of communicating with more than one person.
  • Motivate students to incorporate what they have learned as they "present themselves" to classmates, peers, and perhaps a larger audience.
