Book I begins in the city of Pompeii shortly before the eruption of Vesuvius. The Book I Teacher's Guide provides commentary and teaching suggestions, as well as attainment tests and a list of relevant books and audio-visual resources for students and teachers. Also included is a brief summary of the story and of the main language features and cultural background.
Clear introductions to language, grammar and vocabulary are coupled with practice and consolidation activities to provide the detailed knowledge needed up to, and beyond, GCSE.
Specialist teachers will delight in the depth of language, flexible length of courses and variety of activities.
The clear structure, built-in lesson plans, and electronic resources will support the non-specialist teacher.
Encourages an appreciation of Roman culture as historical characters are introduced along with the historical, political and social aspects of Roman civilisation.
Teachers using the course benefit from free advice and support from the Cambridge School Classics Project team throughout the teaching year, and INSET training is offered regularly. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
