Five 2020 Nobel Laureates published by the Press

The Press is proud to have previously published five Nobel Prize Laureates among the winners in 2020, including those awarded for their work in physics, chemistry, and economics.

The Prize for Physics was shared by Roger Penrose “for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity" and jointly by Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez "for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy.”

Spinors and Space-Time, co-authored by Penrose, was published by the Press in 1984. Titles including The Once and Future Turing and On Space and Time have also included chapter contributions from Penrose. Ghez has also been a Press contributor, writing in Astrometry for Astrophysics.

Jennifer A. Doudna was jointly awarded the Prize for Chemistry with Emmanuelle Charpentier “for the development of a method for genome editing.”

Doudna has written in the Quarterly Review of Biophysics and also very recently joined the QRB Discovery Editorial Advisory Board.

Finally, Paul Milgrom and Robert Wilson were both awarded the Prize in Economic Sciences “for improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats.”

Milgrom’s Putting Auction Theory to Work was originally published in 2004 and Wilson contributed chapters to both Advances in Economic Theory and Game-Theoretic Models of Bargaining.
