  • Drawn from the unpublished lectures and notes of one of the modern giants of art history, this book presents the late Rudolf Wittkower's thoughts about the relation between European and non-European civilizations. In a series of stimulating and speculative essays, Wittkower considers the interrelationship between the East and the West from ancient to modern times. He shows the variety and compatability of Eastern and Western motifs, styles, and iconography.
