Since 1914 Cambridge has published The Elements of New Testament Greek, a best-selling textbook for scholars and students of the Bible. The original book by H. P. V. Nunn was replaced and succeeded in 1965 by J. W. Wenham's book of the same title; now Jeremy Duff has produced a new book to continue this long-established tradition into the twenty-first century. This pack contains that book and the accompanying audio CDs. The book provides a step-by-step approach to learning Greek with each step clearly explained and reviewed using questions and exercises. Lessons are ordered so the most important aspects of Greek are learnt first and the vocabulary consists of the most commonly occurring words in the New Testament. The CDs contain vocabulary lists, reading passages, and paradigms from the book, read aloud to enable students to reinforce their familiarity with the Greek alphabet and the sound of the Greek words.

The book is more user-friendly than its predecessor by Wenham, but I have also bought a different book to use with it. I need more example sentences with translations on the same page than this book has, in order to learn the feel of correct sentences. This book is good for people who like memorising tables and rules. The CD could be useful but does not do what its blurb says and facilitate learning while away from books, because you can't use it on the move. It has to be played on a computer or CD player, because the files won't play when synced to a phone (not my android phone anyway: don't know about iphones). Also, it has an American accent, which seems odd for a British book. Most of the exercises can be self-marked, but the answer section does not include answers for the section B sentences, so those are useful only if you have a teacher willing to check them.
