This series is concerned with all aspects of the scientific study of spoken communication. 'Speech science' is here conceived as a broad, synthesizing discipline at the intersection of linguistics, phonetics, psychology, speech pathology, medicine and communications engineering. The principal aim of the series is to consolidate this interdisciplinary base.Monographs in the series report advanced empirical research that makes an important theoretical contribution to the discipline. A sub-series of reference handbooks on all the major areas of speech science is also being planned
