Stanford Lectures: Distinguished Visiting Lecturers in Mathematics
Each year the faculty of Stanford University's Department of Mathematics selects a small group of internationally renowned mathematicians from around the world to present a series of eight lectures to the department. The lectures are intended for an audience of graduate students from a variety of mathematical backgrounds, and thus the level of presentation is relatively broad. The books in this series represent the polished and edited text of these lectures. Covering both pure and applied mathematics, the series will establish itself as a select forum for new and exciting results in mathematics, as well as a sound pedagogical presentation of established topics by the leading experts.
