Tips for practical science lessons
Are you a Cambridge International AS & A Level teacher? Do your new students find practical activities a challenge?
Before AS & A Level, science students may have taken the alternative to a practical paper at Cambridge IGCSE™ and had little opportunity to get practical experience. To help you support your students, we have created practical guides for biology, chemistry and physics.
We spoke to the authors of our new practical workbooks* for Cambridge International AS & A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics to get their advice. We asked what practical skills are required, and why you need them, what the main challenges are for students and teachers, and what are their top five tips.
You can also download our chapter on essential practical skills from our practical workbooks.
Just click on your subject area below for advice and inspiration. Good luck with your practical investigations!
*Our new series, updated for the new syllabuses for Biology, Chemistry and physics are available in 2020! The series include coursebooks, teacher’s resources, workbooks and practical workbooks.
