Onward stretch: XVI ( 16)Nicea The linework for this stretch is not marked. The route linework is drawn for some way, but it then stops abruptly. Continuation to Nicea would seem to make best sense (compare BAtlas 49 C2-D2), even though this requires a very lengthy stretch with a bend in it. Conceivably, a copyist interrupted the linework to accommodate the D of MACEDONIA and then omitted to continue the line; thereafter there was uncertainty over whether it was to proceed to Nicea or to Evristo, and the omission remained.
