   <p id="placenote970">The name is best seen on the 
      <ref target="TP1888">1888 photograph</ref>. It seems to begin "Is", but the rest is no more than a blur. Miller's reading "Asice" is attractive, but I am very uncertain of the "A", while his "e" seems out of proportion to the other letters. He is surely too bold in suggesting that the distance from Sicily or Corsica to Sardinia is being recorded here.</p>
