Miller insists that the name was meant to be two words rather than one, but it is impossible to be certain. There is, however, no stop after the first "E", and the interval left between it and the next letter is little different from the others.
As Miller recognizes, there is a case for taking the name as that of a people rather than a region; the map offers no sure means of distinguishing the two.
