Laboratory astrophysics: experiments, numerics and theory

Laboratory Astrophysics collection

For long, astrophysics has been mainly an observational science, as astrophysical phenomena were thought impossible to reproduce in the laboratory. Yet, high power lasers, z-pinches and scaling laws have recently rendered possible the study of astrophysical phenomena in the lab. As a result many aspects of astrophysics including, plasma jets, collisionless shocks, magnetic fields generation and radiation flows, are now under renewed experimental, theoretical and numerical scrutiny. The goal of this JPP Special Issue is to provide a collection of state-of-the-art papers on this topic. We invite submissions related to experimental, theoretical or numerical works. Contributions can be made either under the form of research papers or review papers.
