There are a number of great features within Cambridge Spiral that let you take full advantage of eTextbooks provided by Higher Education from Cambridge University Press.

Text-to-speech

You can use the in-built text-to-speech tool to experience automated natural voice reading on compatible titles in our catalogue. eTextbooks with text-to-speech enabled will see the icon ready to use in the top-right panel (a set of headphones over a book).

Our readers should note that some of our textbooks will not have the text-to-speech tool enabled. To find out more, you can view our detailed information page .

Annotations

You can annotate eTextbooks in a number of different ways. We provide a variety of annotation styles to suit your study needs:

• Note – A box will appear where you can enter plain text notes

• Highlight – the text will be highlighted on page, several colours are available

• Weblink – add a link that takes you to a website if you click on it

• Hyperlink – link elsewhere in the eTextbook you are currently reading

The Annotation tab provides you with an easy way to browse your own and any Group Annotations you have access to, edit the names of the annotations and to simply navigate to the annotation within the textbook. You can also export your annotations to PDF.

Copy and paste text

You can highlight text to copy and paste as plain text into another program. You can copy 20% of a title and you will be able to monitor your current and remaining usage before you copy.

Copy and Paste is only available via the online version of Cambridge Spiral via your browser, Copy and Paste is not available in Mobile or Desktop applications.

Printing

You can print single pages from eTextbooks. The print functionality is limited to 20% of a title.

Bookmarking

You can bookmark anywhere in an eTextbook by clicking the bookmark icon in the top right hand corner. You will then be asked to click again where you wish to place the bookmark.

The Bookmarking tab provides you with an easy way to browse your bookmarks, edit the names of the bookmarks and to simply navigate to the bookmarked item within the textbook.

Rich Media

The resources tab in Cambridge Spiral allows quick navigation to enriched media items contained within the eTextbook. Enriched media includes:

• Charts and data

• Videos

• Audio
