Summary

Monitoring, evaluation and research offer ways to collect, analyse and learn from information to ensure effectiveness and guide improvement for future practice. This chapter outlines the importance of monitoring, evaluation and research when undertaking voluntary projects, and it considers best practice. It also considers the different aspects of a voluntary placement that a prospective volunteer should consider evaluating.
