About the Authors

COLIN RATLEDGE is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Hull where he has been teaching and researching for nearly 40 years. He has served on almost all the major biotechnology committees in the UK, and also on the Science Advisory Committee of the European Federation of Biotechnology. He also acts as a consultant to many industrial companies in the UK, Europe and the USA.

BJØRN KRISTIANSEN is the Chief Executive Officer of EU Biotech Consulting in Norway. He is an active member of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), and co-founder and Interim Chairperson for the Section on Biochemical Engineering Science.
