About the Editor
John Christian Fox is Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, Chief, Division of Emergency Ultrasound and Director of Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, CA, USA.
Following his graduation from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology in 1993 he attended Tufts University School of Medicine where he was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree 1997. He then went back to University of California, Irvine for his residency in Emergency Medicine, graduating in 2000. After residency Dr. Fox went to Chicago for a one-year fellowship in emergency ultrasound at Christ Hospital, affiliated with University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Fox returned again to University of California, Irvine where he currently directs a fully integrated ultrasound curriculum for the medical school.
He has lectured on ultrasound in 47 states and 10 countries. He has presented research at the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and at the European Congress of Emergency Medicine. He is a past Co-Chair of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine's Emergency Ultrasound section. He has published over 40 articles and is editor of two textbooks of emergency imaging. He has received numerous awards for his teaching of medical students and residents including the American Academy of Emergency Medicine's Young Educator Award.
