Preparing learners for the future

There’s no doubt that we are living through a period of intense and rapid change. Technological advancements and accelerating globalisation, compounded by political, social, economic, and environmental uncertainty, render the future both unknown and unpredictable.

Technological advancements and accelerating globalisation, compounded by political, social, economic, and environmental uncertainty, pose significant challenges to everyone working within education. This timely report considers how we can address these challenges and prepare learners with the skills that will be valuable in the future.

Team working, lifelong learning, and communication, among other skills, are regarded as increasingly important. As the demand for these skills increases, there’s a growing impetus for education systems to facilitate their development. 

Drawing upon views from around the world, the report highlights challenges faced in specific regions. In Oman, for example, the need for globally transferable skills has been addressed through education reform and curriculum change. 

What’s more, as globalisation and advances in technology impact the labour market, it’s likely that the skills learners need will be continually redefined.
