Make one copy of Talking point 11 for every six students. Cut the top
half into cards.

  1. Have students form groups of six. Give each group one map and one set of cards placed facedown.
  2. Explain the activity. Each student will take one of the six cards. Students must share information about the places on their cards and use the map to decide on five places to go. They should consider location, transportation, hours, and cost. When students decide, they should list the places they will go to in order, and decide how they will get to and from each place.
  3. You may want to tell students they each have $200 to spend.
  4. Have students share the plans for their trip with the class and explain why they chose those places.
