Time: 25–30 minutes
Activity type: Vocabulary review game
Preparation: Click here to download the Talking point activity.
Make one copy of Talking point 16 for every four students.

  1. Have students form groups of four. Give each group one handout and one die. Ask each student to choose a different marker and place it in one of the four corners of the game.
  2. Explain the game. S1 rolls the die and moves that many spaces on the game board. (Students can move in any direction.) S1 then makes a sentence using the word. If the sentence is correct, S1 writes his or her initials on the space. If it is incorrect, or if S1 cannot make a sentence, S2 gets a chance to make a sentence.
  3. S2 then rolls the die, and play continues.
  4. The game ends when there are initials on all of the spaces. The student with the most spaces
    wins.
