Make one copy of Talking point 5 for every three or four students.

1. Have students form groups of three or four. Give each group a handout.
2. Give groups three minutes to study the picture. Encourage them to discuss what they see and what is happening in the scene.
3. When students have finished, tell them to turn over the picture. Give them five minutes to work together to write as many sentences about the picture as they can. For example, students can write: A man is wearing a funny hat. A woman is walking a dog.
4. After five minutes, call on groups to read their sentences aloud. The group with the most correct sentences wins.
