Let's talk!

Make one copy of Talking point 1 for every 12 students. Cut into cards.

  1. Give each student one Conversation topic card. Tell students to read the topic on their card and write a related question.
  2. Give each student a Conversation strategy card.
  3. Students walk around and start conversations with classmates. During the conversation, they should ask one another the question on their card and use the conversation strategy. Encourage students to ask follow-up questions.
  4. When they finish the conversation, have students exchange cards and move on to talk to another classmate.
  5. When students have finished, ask the class to say how they felt using the conversation strategies.
