Making new friends

Time: 10–15 minutes
Activity type: Partner interview
Preparation: Click here to download the Talking point activity.
Make one copy of Talking point 12 for each student.

  1. Have students form pairs. Give each student one handout.
  2. Have students read the ads and discuss which person they think they are more similar to, and which person they would be more interested in meeting.
  3. Have students interview their partner, using the questions on the handout. Explain that the task is to write a personal ad for their partner.
  4. Give students seven or eight minutes to write the ad.
  5. Hang the ads around the classroom, and have students walk around and read them, and then guess which classmate each ad describes.
