About Cambridge University Press in the The Gulf

After many years of serving The Gulf from the UK and frequent visits, our regional office was established in the United Arab Emirates in October 2004. We are located in Dubai in the Business Centre in building 18 of the Knowledge Village complex, close to many of the universities which have also set up there.

Since then we have brought several of our authors and teacher trainers to the region to lead training workshops and presentations on our ELT materials; we have also increased our participation in conferences and other events for the region's ELT professionals. 2006 will be an exciting year for us as we consolidate our current position, and embark on an expansion programme to include specific publishing for the region.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if we can be of any assistance to you and your colleagues in your ELT teaching, or if you have any publishing proposals which you think would be of interest to our editiorial team in the UK.

We look forward to hearing from you, and to ensuring that Cambridge University Press is always 'the right choice' !

About Cambridge University Press ELT

Cambridge University Press ELT was established in the mid 1970s, and has become one of the world's leading publishers of ELT material. We now account for over a quarter of the Cambridge Publishing's sales revenue and over a half of all publications sold.

The quality of Cambridge's ELT list is achieved by extremely close collaboration between in-house editors, all of whom have teaching experience and qualifications, and the teaching profession. Extensive market research precedes the development of new materials which are then piloted in schools in many parts of the world. The Press has some 60 ELT editorial, production and marketing staff in its Cambridge and New York offices, and in recent years ELT publishing centres have been developed in other regions, with editorial staff in Spain, Singapore and Brazil. Output includes not only books but cassettes, videos, CD-Roms and, increasingly, Web-based materials. ELT publications are sold to almost every country in the world, promoted by representatives based in over 60 countries, and with more than 90% of sales being made outside the UK.

Cambridge ELT first earned its reputation as a publisher of materials for adults, but, in response to ever larger numbers of young children learning English around the world, the list's range is expanding. Major recent additions include Primary Colours and the Storybooks series. The oldest Press in the world now provides for even the youngest learners.
