Learn English with Cambridge: meet our new YouTube presenters

Five new presenters have been chosen to join Cambridge University Press’s learner-focussed YouTube channel, Learn English with Cambridge, which launched on Monday 12th April in collaboration with Cambridge Assessment English and We Love IELTS.

The new presenters have been announced following a global competition, which received over 50,000 page views on the Press’s World of Better Learning competition blog post, leading to an impressive 627 entries from over 75 countries. This equated to over 21 hours of video content for the judging panel to watch.

Successful candidates were chosen for their fun and engaging presence, as well as their background in English language teaching and preparing students for Cambridge exams and IELTS – two new areas of focus for the channel. The new presenters are: Jiri from Czech Republic, Angela from Spain, Vladimir from Colombia, Paula from Argentina, and Hong from Vietnam. 

Kirsty Barker, Brand and Marketing Communications Director said: “We’re really excited to be welcoming the expanded team of presenters to the channel and bringing expertise in not only English language learning, but also Cambridge exams preparation and IELTS. 

“Building on the success of the last two years, we hope to be able to support even more learners by creating videos that are reflective of the changes in teaching and learning, and ensuring we are offering support for the topics people are actively searching for.”

Two of the presenters will focus on English Language Teaching content, two are specific to Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) and one will focus solely on IELTS content. They join forces with the original group of Learn English presenters. 

Angela, a new Spanish presenter, said: “Being on the channel is like a dream come true. I am looking forward to making dynamic and informative videos and cannot wait to share tips and teaching ideas with the world!”

Vladimir, from Colombia, added: “I became an English teacher because I wanted to help people to reach their goal of learning English and this channel is an amazing opportunity of doing it in a fun and engaging way. I'm really looking forward to developing my creativity on the video lessons and growing as a professional thanks to all the incredible possibilities and support provided by the Learn English with Cambridge team.” 

Learn English with Cambridge launched in 2019 to provide bite-sized learning videos for learners of English. There have been over 2.2 million video views in that time and the YouTube channel now has over 65,000 subscribers. They have also collaborated with guest presenters such as Loukgolf and Korean Billy.
