ACARONEMUS, A NEW GENUS PROPOSED FOR TARSONEMID MITES (ACARI: PROSTIGMATA) PREDACEOUS ON TETRANYCHOID MITE EGGS

Published online by Cambridge University Press:  31 May 2012

Abstract

Acaronemus n. gen. is described, and its type-species, Tarsonemus destructor Smiley and Landwehr, 1976, is reillustrated. Other, undescribed species of Acaronemus are discussed briefly. Members of this genus are unique among the tarsonemid mites as known to date in preying on mite eggs.
