REVIEW OF XYLOTOPUS OLIVER AND DESCRIPTION OF IRISOBRILLIA N. GEN. (DIPTERA: CHIRONOMIDAE)

Abstract

Detailed generic descriptions are given for the adult male and female, larva, and pupa of Xylotopus Oliver and for the adult male of Irisobrillia n. gen. Two new species, Xylotopus burmanensis and Irisobrillia longicosta, are described. A key is presented to separate adult males of Xylotopus and Irisobrillia from allied genera, Brillia Kieffer, Eurycnemus Wulp, and Euryhapsis Oliver.

Résumé

L'article présente une description des adultes, mâles and femelles, ainsi que des stades larvaire et pupal, du genre Xylotopus. On trouve aussi une description de l'adulte mâle du genre Irisobrillia n. gen. Deux nouvelles espèces, Xylotopus burmanensis et Irisobrillia longicosta sont décrites. Une clé d'identification permet de distinguer les adultes mâles de Xylotopus et Irisobrillia de ceux des genres apparentés, Brillia Kieffer, Eurycnemus Wulp, et Euryhapsis Oliver.
