In a previous edition of the Archives, Vladimir Shlapentokh proposed an explanation of the surprising patience of the Russian people in the face of a drop in the standard of living of a majority of the population. Obervations made in the Altaï territory confirm Shlapentokh's explication. Using individual adaptation categories as formulated by Merton, it is shown how the different adaptation strategies cancelled each other out and impeded the emergence of an opposition movement.

Dans un précédent numéro des Archives, Vladimir Shlapentokh a proposé une interprétation de l'étonnante patience du peuple russe face à la détérioration de la qualité de vie de la majorité de la population. Des observations de terrain effectuées dans le territoire de IéAltaï confirment le diagnostic de Shlapentokh. À l'aide des catégories d'adaptation individuelle distinguées par Merton, on montre ici comment les différentes stratégies d'adaptation, en se neutralisant mutuellement, ont freiné I'émergence d'un mouvement d'opposition.

In einer der letzten Ausgaben des Arcbivs hat Vladimir Shlapentokh die erstaunliche Geduld des russichen Volks gegenüber der sich ständig verschlechternden Lebensqualität eines Großteils der Bevölkerung analysiert. Untersuchungen im Gebiet des Altai bestätigen die Aussagen Shlapentokhs. Anhand der von Merton aufgestellten Kategorien der individuellen Anpassungsformen wird im weiteren aufgeführt, wie sich die verschiedenen Anpassungsstrategien gegenseitig neutralisiert und die Entstehung einer Oppositionsbewegung behindert haben.
