Rehabilitación de pacientes esquizofrénicos y otros pacientes enfermos mentales a largo plazo. Resultados de un estudio prospectivo de un programa amplio de tratamiento hospitalario basado en la terapia cognitiva

Resumen

Un total de 28 pacientes enfermos mentales a largo plazo, la mayoría esquizofrénicos, tratados con terapia cognitiva en el contexto de terapia ambiental y terapia de grupo, fue investigado en la admisión y el alta con respecto a cambios en los síntomas, la calidad de vida, el funcionamiento global, la necesidad de medicación y las quejas diana percibidas. Los resultados mostraron un alivio significativo en la carga percibida de la enfermedad y una mejoría en la calidad de vida. Un mejor funcionamiento antes de la admisión con respecto al funcionamiento social, la función ocupacional y los síntomas predecía una evolución más favorable.
