1 Another interesting form of the future tense is vrakshaṁti in the Shāhbāzgarhi edict T, line 11, where Bühler read [a]chhaṁti. M. Boyer has shown that the Kharōshṭhī alphabet uses a special form of chh (which I transcribe by ksh) in all those cases where it corresponds to a Sanskrit ksh; see Journal Asiatique (10), xvii, 422 ff. The present vrachati (= vachchaï, Hēmaehandra, iv, 225) occurs in edicts vi, 16, and xiii, 10.
