Surfaces and Interfaces in Electronics and Photonics

MRS Advances is accepting full-paper submissions on Electronic Devices and Materials topics related to the symposium topic Surfaces and Interfaces in Electronics and Photonics from the 2020 MRS Spring Meeting. Submissions, the review process, and the final decision are not contingent on presentation at the meeting itself.

MRS Advances publishes short papers that provide a “snapshot” of an advance within the field of materials research. Such work may include important early indications from a research project that has not yet reached a conclusion, or related results that are significant but not central to the goal of the project. The scientific methods and logic should be rigorous, technically sound, and of interest to other specialists in the area of research.

Of particular interest are topics in Surfaces and Interfaces in Electronics and Photonics:

• Interfaces in area-selective ALD enabled nanopatterns
• Self-assembled monolayers (SAM) growth and in-situ characterization
• Next generation interconnects-interfacial challenges
• Surface activation, deactivation, patterning, and spectroscopic studies
• Mechanistic understanding of interface defect formation and mitigation
• Surface characterization techniques and metrology innovation
• Hybrid (inorganic/organic) interfaces in flexible electronics and additive manufacturing
• Interfacial challenges in printed hybrid electronics
• Emerging deposition equipments
• Control of surfaces, interfaces and grain-boundaries to tailor properties and functionalities
• Surfaces of emerging electronic and photonic materials
• Interface engineering in emerging photovoltaics

Manuscript Submission:

To be considered for MRS Advances, new and previously unpublished results significant to the development of this field should be presented. The manuscripts must be submitted via the MRS Advances electronic submission system by December 16, 2020. All manuscripts will be reviewed in the standard rapid timeframe of MRS Advances to ensure timely publication in the issue related to the submission topic.
