Abstract

The present knowledge on mechanisms for dielectric loss at microwave and higher frequencies is reviewed. A special attention is paid to the intrinsic loss mechanisms. Relation between the loss and the dielectric permittivity as well as the effect of dc electric field on the loss are discussed. The theoretical knowledge is compared to the existing experimental data.
