Abstract

Titanium containing fibers have been synthesized via the modification of organic materials. Thermal processing of these chemically modified organic fibers in reactive/inert atmospheres, has produced materials containing Ti (C,O). Materials analysis was performed using SEM-EDS, ESCA and Auger spectroscopy. Novel monomeric titanium materials were synthesized for the above mentioned modification of organic materials. Boron containing monomers and polymers were also synthesized as possible precursors for B-N-C materials.
