Secretary of State Rogers (USA) made the following statement in the course of the general debate in the United Nations General Assembly on 25 September 1972: “Of course we also attach importance to the work of the Conference of the Committee on Disarmament, which has now turned its attention to preventing the accumulation of chemical weapons fur use in warfare. Work in that Committee has come a long way towards resolving some of the important and complex issues related to possible significant restraints in this area. The United States is intensifying its study of all proposals and we look forward to responding to them at an early date” (A/PV. 2038 p. 26).
