Skretkowicz is more explicit in an article published in Sir Philip Sidney: 1586 and the Creation of a Legend, ed. Jan Van Dorsten, Dominic Baker-Smith, and Arthur F. Kinney (Leiden, 1986), pp. 111-24, both in endorsing the reliability of the 1593 edition in general, and in allowing the 1593 “appendix” authorial status (p. 121), while denying “literary unity” to the edition as a whole (pp. 118-19).
