One of the best studied results of the X-ray observations of Active Galactic Nuclei is the statistical correlation which has been observed between the X-ray and optical luminosities in these objects. In this paper I will review the present situation of the analysis of such correlation, focusing my attention on the large number of topics which are more or less directly linked to it.
