Scope and Goals

Find out more about the scope and goals of the Elements in Law, Economics and Politics series on the series homepage.

Elements were created for the digital age, and as such published pieces will be made available in online, e-book and print versions. Accepted submissions will be offered open access for the first two weeks of publication and permanently, thereafter, upon the payment of a fee. Regular updating is made possible by the digital format and so the Elements provide an ongoing reference for students and researchers. More information is available here

Peer-review process

The Elements in Law, Economics and Politics series receives submissions from leading scholars in their fields which are rigorously peer-reviewed. Authors willing to submit either an unpublished paper or a critical review must first approach the Managing Editor, Liam Wells, at LEPelements@cambridge.org and the Editor in Chief, Professor Carmine Guerriero, at c.guerriero@unibo.it. Each submission will then be assessed by the entire group of Series Co-editors before it is formally submitted through the ‘ScholarOne’ online system. Following this, the peer review process will include review by two of the Series Co-editors, two Associate Editors and one external reviewer. Once accepted, submissions are published and available quickly (within three months).

Submission Deadlines

Please email the entire paper or a long abstract (max 1000 words) of the proposed submission to the Managing Editor, Liam Wells, at LEPelements@cambridge.org and to the Editor in Chief, Professor Carmine Guerriero, at c.guerriero@unibo.it. If this preliminary proposal is accepted by the Series Co-editors in committee, then the prospective contributor will be invited to prepare a short prospectus for submission to Cambridge University Press. The formal submission and peer-review process will then commence.

General enquiries about the process should be addressed to the Managing Editor, Liam Wells, at LEPelements@cambridge.org and to the Editor in Chief, Professor Carmine Guerriero, at c.guerriero@unibo.it
