| Score the Written Placement Tests on each of the following aspects: |
| 1. Content: |
Is there a clear main idea? Is there enough information for that idea? |
| 2. Organization: |
Is the paragraph logical? Is it adequately developed? |
| 3. Grammar: |
Are grammatical structures used correctly? |
| 4. Vocabulary: |
Is the vocabulary appropriate? |
| 5. Mechanics: |
Are the mechanics (spelling, capitalization, punctuation) correct? |
Give each aspect a score between 1 and 4, and then total them:
1 = poor
2 = fair
3 = good
4 = excellent
To obtain the maximum score, students must write a paragraph on one topic. Students who respond only to the questions can only receive up to a maximum of 6 points (2 points for Grammar, 2 points for Vocabulary and 2 points for Mechanics).
Total the scores for the individual aspects to obtain a final score for the Written Placement Test. Determine final placement by combining the scores of the Objective Placement Test, the Oral Placement Test, and the Written Placement Test. |
