Abstract

The Indian Constitution safeguards Scheduled Caste interests through specific laws addressing discrimination and aggression by dominant groups. Despite these legal measures, rising cruelty against marginalized individuals persists. Such normalized violence prompts scrutiny of the caste hierarchy's legitimacy and legal system's efficacy. Ongoing caste-centric violence reveals shortcomings in societal harmony efforts. This study examines a 2006 caste-based incident in Uttar Pradesh, analyzing violent upper caste actions upholding caste divisions.
