Abstract
The paper explores the Renaissance architecture according to the Krautheimer's iconological method. For this purpose, the central-plan church is analysed on the base of the concepts of exemplum and auctoritas as devises that reveals the underlying relationship the Renaissance artists had with the ancient models of architecture and the concept of copy.
