Education Everywhere
History
Cambridge has built up expertise in supporting education in very challenging settings over many decades. During conflicts in the mid twentieth century, Cambridge awarded qualifications to some learners including those in internment camps or fleeing persecution in Europe who could not access formal education. In the last ten years, we’ve enhanced teaching and learning at the world’s largest refugee settlement in Bangladesh and supported the digital Learning Passport which has helped millions of children in more than 50 countries to continue learning in crisis-affected settings.
Building opportunities through education
Disruption to a child’s education should not mean a permanent loss. We stay alongside teachers and organisations who deliver learning to children in very challenging settings and build pathways to new opportunities through:
- Teacher training – for example, we’re supporting teachers and school leaders in Ukraine
- Curriculum – we created a curriculum framework that underpins the Learning Passport launched with UNICEF and Microsoft
- Resources for learning and teaching – our materials have supported education at the world’s largest refugee settlement in Bangladesh
- Recognising learning – we’re working with Alsama Project to develop the G12++ qualification for refugees
- Research – our teams provide insight and evaluation of initiatives such as Jesuit World Learning’s Global English Learning programme which supports marginalised learners in more than 30 countries
Collaboration
Our partners include UN agencies such as UNICEF, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as Alsama Project and Osvitoria, as well as government ministries. We work collaboratively, bringing Cambridge’s expertise in training, resources and globally recognised assessment, to help transform opportunities for learners’ further education and training.
Quality education
As experts in what makes high-quality education around the world, we focus on helping to build more resilient education systems, ensuring continuity of learning and enabling more people to achieve their goals.
