Summary

From estimates of the 2019 world population of 7.7 billion, the projection indicates that by 2050 it will be 9.7 billion. In 2018 for the first time, persons 65 years of age or older outnumbered children under the age of 5. Life expectancy worldwide is expected to be around 77.1 years in 2050. Between 2019 and 2050, the number of elders is projected to double globally.
