Summary

Chapter 6 explores how oil and wine production and exchange expanded exponentially as beneficial climate and social changes worked to connect the products of many more regions of the Aegean with the rest of the Mediterranean in the Archaic era. New contexts for commensal exchange, such as symposia, communal dining halls, and regional sanctuaries, add to the availability of oil and wine to a growing number of people and places.
