A case of trigemino-facial zoster presenting as Superior Orbital Fissure Syndrome is reported. Geniculate ganglion involvement was limited to the vestibular branch of the cochleo-vestibular nerve, without any hearing impairment of facial palsy. this case clearly illustrates that herpes zoster cranialis is a polyneuropathy of multifocal asynchronous viral activity and can present in numerous forms.

The presentation and management of a two-year-old child with a severe spontaneous haemorrhage from the tonsil is reported. This was shown to be associated with an acute infection of the tonsil. It is suggested that early tonsillectomy be advised in patients with this symptom.

Three cases of malignant lesions in the infratemporal fossa are presented to illustrate the insidious nature of the symptoms, the delay in diagnosis and the difficulty in both diagnosis and treatment. Attention is drawn to the deficiencies in diagnostic radiology in this area, and to the possible surgical approaches for diagnosis, assessment and excision.
