New Frontiers in the Design, Fabrication and Application of Metamaterials

MRS Advances is accepting full-paper submissions on Mechanical Behavior topics related to the symposium topic New Frontiers in the Design, Fabrication and Application of Metamaterials from the 2020 MRS Spring/Fall Meeting. Submissions, the review process, and the final decision are not contingent on presentation at the meeting itself.

MRS Advances publishes short papers that provide a “snapshot” of an advance within the field of materials research. Such work may include important early indications from a research project that has not yet reached a conclusion, or related results that are significant but not central to the goal of the project. The scientific methods and logic should be rigorous, technically sound, and of interest to other specialists in the area of research.

Of particular interest are topics in New Frontiers in the Design, Fabrication and Application of Metamaterials:

•  Fundamental Theory, Emerging Concepts and New Design Approaches:
•  Topological metamaterials
•  Nonreciprocal and non-Hermitian photonic metamaterials
•  Quantum metamaterials
•  Multi-functional metamaterials with desired optical, mechanical, thermal and acoustic properties
•  Deep learning in metamaterial designs
•  Design of metamaterials across different scales
•  Novel Architectures, Devices and Applications:
•  Atomically-thin metasurfaces
•  2D and 3D metamaterials by self-assembly
•  Additive and subtractive manufacturing of metamaterials
•  Plasmonic and resonant dielectric nano-tweezers
•  Super-resolution imaging
•  Biomedical diagnostics and sensing applications
•  Energy applications, such as radiative control, thermophotovoltaics, catalysis and desalination

Manuscript Submission:

To be considered for MRS Advances, new and previously unpublished results significant to the development of this field should be presented. MRS journals allow submission and publication of figures and content that have appeared online as part of a virtual presentation. Standard journal peer review policies apply to these submitted papers. The manuscripts must be submitted via the MRS Advances electronic submission system by December 16, 2020. 

All manuscripts will be reviewed in the standard rapid timeframe of MRS Advances to ensure timely publication in the issue related to the submission topic. At submission, indicate Mechanical Behavior as the topical area of your paper.
