1 A survey of the court archive register indicated an average of one visit, usually of short duration, by foreign scholars per year during the last six years. During twenty months of research in the Archivo Agrario during the last five years only three non-Mexican scholars were encountered. The number of Mexican scholars in these archives, while somewhat larger, was almost entirely confined to graduate students and was also minimal.

2 When known, the number of legajos in a given ramo is indicated after its title heading. Since the classification of fojas sueltas is still underway, the numbers of legajos given here are subject to considerable change.
