The aim of this book is to explore the relationship between religious beliefs and the behaviors and processes that lead to wealth accumulation. In the previous chapter, I showed that religion is related to family processes and human capital acquisition. I proposed that these, in turn, affect wealth ownership through several mechanisms, including through their effect on work, job outcomes, and income. In this chapter, I continue to investigate the relationship between religion and the processes that connect it to wealth indirectly. In particular, I explore in more detail the role that work and money play in linking religion to wealth by discussing the boxes in Figure 1.1 that are labeled work, job traits, income, and charitable giving. These behaviors and processes are also partially driven by intergenerational processes and can be considered demographic. As such, this chapter continues my discussion of the pathway labeled intergenerational and demographic processes in Figure 1.1.
